AUDIO BOOKS AUSTRALIA

IDEAL AS PRESENTS FOR THAT SPECIAL PERSON IN YOUR LIFE

Audio Books Australia is new company dedicated to the production of Audio Books by Australian writers. Books are available on CD or as e-books.

We have two of Max Colwell’s books available now.

First published in 1979, Half Days and Patched Pants sold 60,000 copies in print. The story is seen through the eyes of an eight-year old boy. It is a warm and funny book that details the experiences of Mike and his friends and family in the dark 1930s depression era. It is a story that shows how people adjusted, or didn't, to poverty and how the human sprit deals with adversity.

We also have the sequel, published in 1980, Full Days and Pressed Pants. This book follows on with the story of the central character, Mike, as he gets his first job. The story invokes characters and situations from an Australia that no longer exists. It is earthy, rich and full of wonderful working-class Australian characters and humour.

The print editions of Full Days & Pressed Pants sold 80.000 copies.

Both of these books were produced as a Radio Plays by ABC Radio and broadcast nation-wide twice.

A Handicap for the Devil

By Allen Lyne

Possibly the funniest book ever written.
What happens when the meekest, mildest man on Earth is given a mission by God to tell all people to reform their wicked ways or suffer obliteration? Jonathan Goodfellow attempts to do just that and the results are hilarious. At the same time that Jonathan undertakes his mission, all of the lawyers in the world are united with Satan to attempt to gain world domination. The clash between the lawyers and Jonathan and his disciples is the core of the book.
A must read for all lawyers: People who dislike lawyers: Golfers: People who dislike golf: Animal lovers: Politicians: People who dislike politicians and everyone else who enjoys a good laugh.
Allen Lyne’s writing has been described as a cross between Douglas Adams and Spike Milligan.
